Yangshuo
Guangxi, 2004

Only for one reason, I packed myself and left to Yangshuo. It is because of cycling.
West Street, the famous for it stuffed with foreign tourists and café, seemed some cold to me when I stepped into the street under one arch.
It rained before and the ground still was a little wet.
I tried some youth hostels along the street, but it was unbelievable that all the rooms were so expensive. I dragged my suitcase to the next door hostel, named Holiday Inn. The boss promised to give me some discount and then I finally could move to a room to settle myself down, for several days.
Even now, I don’t like Yangshuo. Too many tourists, too much noise. When lying on the bed, I was looking forward to the next morning, when I set off on bicycle.
The next was so great and amazing. I did not plan to have a guide while cycling, however it happened. I had a great time with there, some 40s lady, the mother of two kids. She showed me along the villages which I liked the most and told me something about her kids. When we went back to my hostel, I asked her to have dinner with me. We tried the best fish there and I was sure that was the wonderful dinner I had. When she left, I asked her snail address and told her I would post her something for her kids. I did after I came home, but I have not got any idea whether she received it or not. I lost her contact…
Cycling part in Yangshuo was so cool and amazing for me, just like a naughty kid to run out and in among the villages, the trees and the pretty hills.
And one café with many books lying on the wooden shelves was very nice.
